Title: Director of HR - U.S. FLSA: Salary Exempt
Reports to: TBD DIRECT REPORTS: Yes
OBJECTIVE
The Director of Human Resources - U.S. is a senior HR leader responsible for designing, leading, and scaling a centralized HR operating model building, standardizing the HR function across Cibes’ U.S. manufacturing and sales operations. This role will oversee a 170-employee manufacturing facility and eight multi-state sales units, each with 20–40 employees. This role is critical to supporting continued growth, operational consistency, and risk management in a complex, multi-state environment. The Director of HR-U.S. will provide strategic and operational leadership across all core HR disciplines, including employment law compliance, talent strategy, compensation and benefits, and employee engagement, while ensuring alignment with global HR frameworks and corporate governance. This role will operate under a hybrid schedule. This schedule will allow the individual to travel between locations, handle issues remotely and be onsite to maintain a presence with the various manufacturing, sales, customer service, and staff departments.
Duties and Responsibilities
HR Transformation
Lead consolidation of HR operations across U.S. manufacturing and sales locations.
Transition HR responsibilities from non-HR personnel into a centralized HR function.
Establish governance, ownership, and escalation paths for HR matters.
Design and implement standardized HR policies and processes.
Ensure U.S. HR structure, policies, and governance align with global HR frameworks while meeting legal and operational requirements.
Compliance and Risk Management
Serve as primary authority on U.S. employment law across all operating states.
Proactively identify and mitigate labor and employment risk.
Establish, standardize, and govern U.S. employee handbooks, policies, and procedures to ensure full compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws while aligning with global HR frameworks and corporate governance standards.
Ensure compliance with wage and hour, leave, and pay transparency laws.
Oversee worker’s compensation, unemployment claims, OSHA coordination, partnering with operations, EHS, and external providers to manage risk, compliance, and cost.
Lead investigations, disciplinary actions, and high-risk employee relations matters.
Act as lead HR representative for union-related matters.
Talent Acquisition & Workforce Planning
Lead recruitment and workforce planning for Cibes Symmetry, with particular focus on engineering, production, installation, service, sales, and leadership roles.
Ensure hiring processes reflect Cibes’ organizational direction and long-term talent needs.
Collaborate with Cibes Lift Group on employer branding initiatives and talent pipelines.
Develop onboarding processes that embed Cibes culture, safety standards, and quality expectations.
Partner with leadership to strengthen employee engagement, retention, and workplace culture, supporting Cibes’ goal of being an employer of choice.
Performance Management & Employee Engagement
Design scalable onboarding and performance management processes.
Support leadership development and succession planning.
Design and implement performance management and feedback processes aligned with Cibes’ philosophy, values, and business objectives, enabling clear expectations, accountability, and continuous. improvement.
Champion a consistent, high-performance culture across U.S. locations while respecting local operational needs.
Lead employee engagement initiatives that strengthen trust, accountability, and retention.
Translate engagement feedback into actionable improvements in partnership with operational leaders.
Serve as a visible, credible HR leader with a strong presence across manufacturing and field teams.
Learning, Development & Leadership
Implement learning and development initiatives aligned with Cibes Group frameworks, including leadership development and technical competence growth.
Collaborate with EHS to strengthen safety culture.
Encourage continuous improvement and skills development in line with Cibes’ manufacturing and engineering excellence.
Compensation, Benefits & Rewards
Lead U.S. compensation and benefits strategy.
Ensure U.S. compensation practices comply with applicable pay transparency, pay equity, and wage disclosure requirements across multiple states.
Evaluate market competitiveness and cost effectiveness.
Partner with brokers and vendors on benefit plan design and renewals.
Coordinate annual compensation reviews.
HR Operations, Compliance & Governance
Ensure compliance with local labor law while adhering to Cibes Lift Group HR policies, ethics, and governance standards.
Maintain accurate HR data and reporting for leadership.
Oversee core HR processes and HR systems.
Support audits, reporting, and continuous improvement of HR processes.
Design, implement, and maintain organized, compliant, and scalable HR systems.
Requirements
REQUIRED JOB SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
Required
Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or related field.
10+ years of progressive HR experience, including senior-level responsibility.
Experience in manufacturing, engineering, industrial, or technical environments.
Experience working within a multinational or global organization, including partnership with HR teams across multiple regions.
Expertise employment law regulations and compliance, especially in navigating multi-state employment environments.
Preferred
Master’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or related field.
SHRM-SCP, SPHR, or equivalent.
Supervisory Responsibilities
This position does include supervisory responsibilities, leading the Cibes Lift Group HR team.
